- A-grade pallets are bright wood with little or no damage.
- B-grade pallets are a dull wood, may be discolored and show more wear and damage but less expensive than A-grade pallets.
- Can be heat-treated to meet ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures) export specifications.
- 2 and 4-way fork access.

- Made from new lumber.
- Can be heat-treated and stamped for export overseas.
- There are typically two types of pallet wood to choose from: hardwood (ex. oak) and softwood (ex. pine).
- 2 and 4-way fork access.

- Often made of hardwood.
- Constructed using both parallel and perpendicular stringers.
- Most common type is a blue CHEP (Commonwealth Handling Equipment Pool) pallet.
- Exceptionally strong and durable.
- Meets ISPM 15 export specifications.
- 4-way fork access.
